Morning Meditation – At the Ocean’s Edge

No one stares into a sunset without wonder in their soul.  Whether we look into the heavens above, or into a sprawling valley beneath us, everything in us exalts at the beauty.  The artistry imbued into every nuance of color, the fragrances upon the air, the textures beneath our feet…they all scream of the importance of life, “It matters.  It’s purposed.  It’s necessary!”

Think of the stirring in your soul.  You can’t help but feel it rising in your heart any time you stand at the oceans edge, hear the new cries of life at birth, or rest next to a campfire beneath a canopy of trees.  Creation’s design screams at us to have faith – to believe for life.

With the witness of creation all around you, would you dare to hear Jesus anew when He declares, “I have come that you might have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10) Listen.  Believe it.  Receive it.  God did not start this planet spinning only for you to stand upon it waiting for it to be destroyed.  That is not the good news of Jesus.  God did not call you to point out in disgust the evil of others while ignoring the call in your own heart to live and to love.

Jesus gave us a most precious gift by His death and resurrection – life today!  Yesterday will lie to you.  Tomorrow’s visions may deceive you.  You’ve only been given this moment.  Life will unfold according to what you believe, today.  “Trust in the Lord with all of you heart, and lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your steps.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Take a fresh step of faith, today, and watch God create life both within and without!

  1. I love the truth you pointed out that God did not start spinning this planet only for us to wait for it to be destroyed, nor did he intend for us to focus on all the evil; it’s about LIFE! Thank you Pastor Jim for this reminder.
