Morning Meditation – Pick Up the Candy

It sits there alone.  There’s nothing else on the counter.  It will not change.  It will not be moved.  It’s the only piece of candy available.  If I want something sweet, that’s the one I will have to take.

As funny as it sounds, this is similar to what Jesus described when He said, “Enter by the narrow gate.  For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.  For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” (Matthew 7:13-14, ESV). He was not strictly speaking of judgment, nor of heaven and hell.  He was describing the divinely ordained life given to each one of us.  It’s unique to you.  It bears specific purpose.  The choices are few, and the road may even be difficult, but it belongs to you and you alone.  You can have it, if you choose to pick up what’s before you.

Give yourself to the door laid before you.  Rejoice in the road beneath your feet.  Don’t let the enemy destroy your story.  It has been given to you and you alone.  If you willingly choose the path the Lord has gifted you, then you will have life and have it abundantly.

All you have to do is say, “Yes,” and pick up the candy in front of you!

I was doing that, but the docs told me to knock it off. Good word for the day. Amen.
P.S. I took the candy off the counter
