“And Martha went up to (Jesus) and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”” (Luke 10:41-42)
Some things just don’t weigh as much as others. It’s not that Martha was doing anything wrong, or even something that wasn’t important. It simply did not have lasting power.
Mary, on the other hand, chose to be at the feet of Jesus receiving what was necessary to feed her the rest of her life. She hungered for this special knowledge. She was desperate for anything that would fuel her life with meaning and purpose. It was revelation she was after…a precious rare prize that can never be stolen.
It was this that Jesus wanted Martha to understand.
Revelation is the fruit of truth received into a tender and receptive heart. It produces the aha moment that gives clarity and understanding. It’s the stuff that launches and propels us into the uncharted territory of our deepest dreams and desires. Revelation gives like nothing else can. It is without doubt the rocket fuel to every divine passion within you.
Let revelation be your bait, today. Be drawn by its reverberations. Sit at Christ’s feet until it comes. And when it comes, let it move you into the fullness of God’s story within you.
