Morning Meditation – The Power of a Name

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12, ESV)

When a name is spoken, a cascade of internal reactions begin.  Something in me jumps when you speak my wife’s name.  I am reminded of hopes and dreams when you call out to my children.  Warmth fills me when you name any of my dogs, past or present.  In our minds, there is an automatic assessment of everything we believe when a name is spoken.

Names carry weight and emotion.  They describe histories filled with joy and pain.  Names describe the foundations of identity and meaning.  Given enough time, when our name is spoken it even points to the gift of our unfolding story filled with eternal possibilities.

But of all the names given to humanity, there is only one that gives life to all.  His name comes with healing, restoration, truth, compassion, and dreams.  Who He is as endless as He is eternal.  His name tells us that we will always be favored under His care.  There is real power in that wonderful name—Jesus.

Connect with the name and you will never be without.  Know the name, and you will always be strengthened and encouraged.  Embrace the name and your future will always flourish into eternity.

  1. Amen! There is absolute power and healing in the name of JESUS! There is absolute restoration in the name of JESUS!!!
Life BEGINS with JESUS! That’s when life really really starts to make sense too. That’s when my life truly began, when I finally said yes to HIM, and no to myself.
I have to strive (just like we all do) to deny self, so much in this world tries to grab our attention. I have never though in my life felt more free than I do now and looking back when that began too, which all started with CHRIST.

Thank you for your encouragement this morning
