“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” (Romans 10:9-10, ESV)
Your heart and mouth are partners. What your heart knows is made manifest by what you speak. Whether we’re speaking of salvation, or any other supernatural reality, your words seal the deal that your heart has made with either kingdom.
Jesus said, “The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45, ESV)
So, listen to yourself. It will reveal what’s in your heart. If you want different outcomes in your life, then change the meditation of your heart. Get the Word of God in you. Begin to recount His promises until it overflows out of your mouth. Together, your heart and mouth are constantly making covenants with either the kingdom of light or the kingdom of darkness. Their agreement supernaturally releases the reality of either kingdom.
The spiritual truth of this is mind-blowing when we think about all that daily comes out of our mouths. Who knows what we could be interfering with because we’re simply not paying attention to what’s coming up from our hearts. Oh, the possibilities, for either life or death!
Think. Pause. Speak.
