Morning Meditation – It’s Unavoidable

“But Jesus answered him, ‘Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.’” (Matthew 3:15, ESV)

Why did Jesus have to be baptized?  Why would a sinless and perfect man need to do anything to make himself right with His Heavenly Father?

Well, it doesn’t have to do anything with being right, but being faithful.  Jesus was already perfect, but He still had to submit to faith-filled choices, regardless of his need.  Those choices would then lead to a life and ministry under God’s grace and power.

There are doors to new levels of life and ministry that will not open until you fulfill what the Father has placed in front of you.  Jesus had to be baptized in order to begin His ministry.  Until Jesus heard the words from heaven, “This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.”  The next steps of His journey were not made available.

I believe it’s no different for you and me.  There are certain actions the Lord asks us to make that open the doors to our next assignments.  So, do what God has placed in front of you to do; and even if you feel it’s unnecessary, take pleasure in simply submitting to your King, and watch what unfolds in front of you!

  1. I have such a huge stirring in me over this truth! Jesus’ baptism seemed so unnecessary; yet it meant so much after the fact. Same goes with us; we may not see the necessity of what we are asked to do; but the outcome leads to the next thing regardless of human eyes seeing its vast importance. Again going back to seeing what the Father does verses earthly eyes. GOOD STUFF Pastor!!!
