“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14a, ESV)
What is your favorite color?
The question elicits an automatic response, doesn’t it? We all have a different answer. We don’t really know why. All we actually know is that it matters to us. Every color promotes within us a unique emotional response. Combination of colors will move us to the depths of our soul, and even inspire us to become something more than we are.
We are “fearfully and wonderfully made!” We are more than the sum of our parts. We are more than what our culture tells us to be. Within each of us is a creative spark that is not simply the product of evolutionary forces, or the predisposition of genetic material. We are an inspired mystery creating meaning where there was none.
Think about it…why is it that we like anything? Why do we hate? Why do we love? Science might try to explain it, but you are truly more than an organic sack of biochemical reactions interacting with its environment. You actually give meaning to color!
Rejoice, today! You were made in the image of God! Life has purpose and significance, because you were created. Now that is wonderful thought.
