His eyes tell you everything…don’t they?
It has been said that our “eyes are the windows to the soul.” They reveal who we are. They speak to what has transpired not only in this day, but also throughout the span of our lives. Our eyes truly are a reflection of our deepest experiences and our resultant life.
Everything to which we’ve been exposed blesses or wounds us and manifests in our visage. They create memories that create an identity—sometimes for the better, and sometimes for the worse. Eventually, it cannot be helped, our shaped soul effects our very look, our body language—and ultimately every word we speak.
If you’re like me, at times, I have to cringe at the overflow of my soul’s reactions to life. Sometimes, I feel like the Apostle Paul, “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?” (Romans 7:24, NIV) I’m sure that we all feel like this from time to time—we just don’t like what periodically comes out of us. But…praise the Lord…Paul follows up this sentiment of “who will rescue me?” with, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:1-2, NIV)
Only living in Christ do we overcome the dilemmas of life’s assaults. Only His soulful healing will transform our eyes and everything they reveal. Turn to Him, today; let Him search out what needs to be adjusted, and you will find a new level of freedom.
