“But Jesus answered them, ‘My Father is working until now, and I am working.’” (John 5:17, ESV)
Everything Jesus engaged was because He could see what His Father was doing. Traditions and expectations did not matter; only healing lives was the priority. Jesus knew who He was and what He was about because His eyes were kept on the Father.
The principle should be no different for you and me.
The love of God compels. It draws us and moves us…if we allow it. God’s eyes see the needs; His heart feels the pains; His hands are drawn to healing opportunities. But, He will never force His love upon anyone. Instead, He reaches out through us; we are the vessels through which His desires offer His transformative power to anyone willing to receive it.
We are called to be like the one we follow—who could “only do what He (saw) the Father doing.” (John 5:19). Jesus works tirelessly and unrelentingly to see all touched and moved by the Father’s love. If you’re eyes are open, you will never be without a mission nor a purpose. Your days will be filled with little room to wonder what you should be about. You will be satisfied; you will sleep with perfect contented slumber.
See and become.
