Morning Meditation – A Simple Secret

“I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation…” (Philippians 4:12, NIV)

I have given myself to this life we call ministry—serving the Lord, equipping the church, and proclaiming the gospel of the Kingdom. It has consumed 27 years of my life. I have known little else.

I must say, though, it did not turn out the way I expected. Certainly, there have been high moments—ecstatic experiences in His presence, miracles, and powerful revelations of His truths—but, mostly, there is the day to day struggle of the battle between flesh and Spirit.

Like the Apostle Paul, I am learning the secret of being content in all things. Whether loved or hated, understood or misunderstood, congratulated for my faithfulness or despised for my lack, in it all, my heart has found peace in simply knowing that my Lord knows me.

This is the center of all the wisdom I can give you—there is only one you need to know, and only one who needs to truly know you. Find Him. Stay close to Him. Whether life is unfolding as you planned, or falling apart all around you, only with Jesus will you find the continual washing of joy and contentment in the midst of His love and divine purpose.

Your story is written; walk in it, and be His light to the world.

  1. I can only imagine the obstacles that you face, it has to be very challenging every day, I think sometimes people believe that Pastors don’t have struggles, I know I have been surprised by the things that have happened in my life and never would have imagined that I would be where I am today. I know only that God has chosen a path for all of us and we have to believe that it is for a reason, and by Faith we will overcome the worst and enjoy the best no matter what, my Mom was right she was a awesome lady of God and she always said don’t worry because God will guide you and take care of you, I know I am where I am because of him.

  2. The depth of this word continues to penetrate deeper & deeper; God is glorified through it all; Jesus is with us; our stories are all ready written and they were written by the Only One Who Knows Everything and it’s ok to bask in His goodness (Presence) as we step THROUGH every single thing before us (no matter what it looks like through our earthly, fleshly, tainted eyes). To do so knowing that we know JESUS, the only way; the only truth, the only life, and knowing that He knows us IS all we need! He is our reward & inheritance now; not to be held tight too, but to give to those who do not know anything other than wasting it away.
