Morning Meditation – Alignment is Everything

“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:30-32, ESV)

There’s something about being set straight…

I love my chiropractor. Besides the awesome healing work he does to my neck and the rest of my spine, we take the time to work out things in the Spirit as well. The issue is simple in my chiropractor’s office: is everything aligned as it should be? Alignment makes everything work. It allows all parts to communicate and work as they should. Without alignment, we have pain and dysfunction.

It’s no different in our original spiritual design with our creator.

Humanity was intended to be aligned to the Father’s Spirit. When bitterness, anger, frustration, and other dark emotions increase in us, Paul says, “don’t grieve the Holy Spirit of God!” In other words, we are misaligned. We were not created to be this way. It grieves His heart!

Today, look for where you can align your heart with Jesus’ next work. As we have been forgiven, let kindness and tenderness begin to open doors of healing. Only in the simple love of Christ will people be drawn to what God has for them. Let His glory increase because you’re aligned with Him.

Good Lord I needed that! There has been an attack on my daughter both with her physical body and with a false accusation against her and a friend. My brothers sudden need for open heart surgery and them my elderly mom falling and breaking her hip have stressed me out! then our toilet tank cracked and water went all over the floor. Finally, my dumb garbage disposal is leaking water. In all that, I have had some moments I am not proud of . When I listened to one praise song, the joy of the Lord rose up. It’s funny how many back to back attacks led to some fear and frustration but 5 minutes in His presence led to an adjustment of peace! What a mighty God we serve!

Today this happened to me. I am in a foreign country I had problems with a rental car. Once at the rental car facility things from went from bad to worse. My first instinct was to allow my frustration and anger to move me out the door and get a taxi. I chose to sit down and wait remembering that God is in control of this situation. After several minutes of waiting, I decided to read my Bible while waiting. Before I finished a chapter they called me up and gave me a new rental car. Previously they told me it could be 4 hours. Keeping your heart aligned with our Prince of Peace pays!
