Regarding the pic above…Life is all about connection! So fun!
OK…I’m enjoying the process. I’m getting in touch with the deeper story within. I’m finding a fresh stream of joy from the passions of creative design.
BUT…I don’t like the fact that I can’t do everything! That, there’s not enough time to answer all my obligations, nor to enjoy all the pleasures of life.
I have a hunch, though, that God made it this way on purpose.
Our days are limited. The number of hours in a day are bounded by the need to sleep. No matter how you slice it and dice it, you only have so much time to live. And worse still, the clock never stops ticking away the seconds…minutes…hours…years!
Sometimes, I just want to yell, “STOP! Can we just stop this train and take a break!” I assume you’re no different than me; but, no matter how much we might complain, we can’t escape the hours whittling away at the calendar of our existence.
As I considered these thoughts, this scripture came to mind, “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” (Matthew 7:13-14, ESV) Too often, this text is used to talk only about salvation; but the context of these Words also include REAL life. Jesus is not just discussing heaven or hell, nor even sin; Jesus is pointing to the path that all of us are intended to walk; and part of that walk is being true to our divine story that narrows our journey’s road.
It can’t be avoided. God’s call in your life will narrow your choices down to a manageable number in the limited time you’ve been given. If you’re honest with yourself, the road will always get narrower the farther you travel down your God-given path. If you truly give yourself to the joys of your internal wiring, you will have to make limiting strategic choices every day.
Let a new joy arise in your heart filling you to the exclusion of anything that would steal that joy.
I know this is a bit cliché, but you have to follow your heart—you must follow the Holy Spirit manifesting through the true joy of your passion. Deep within, you know who you are and the Holy Spirit knows how to get you there; and even if you misinterpret Holy Spirit, your real life choices will reveal what God has wired you to be and to love.
This is real simple, today. Let the joys of your heart limit your choices, so that the days of your life would be filled with joy!
