Journey 2018 – When the Clouds Loom Dark

Have you ever looked into the sky when it looms dark, and felt, “Something is coming?”  You know…that creepy feeling that things are watching.

In all of us, I believe there resides this knowledge that our future has profound purpose, and that there are powerful forces working behind the scenes to influence it.  Whether for good or for evil, we know there is a battle over our existence.

You can’t shake the feeling.  No one can escape it.  In all of humanity, there exists the deeply seeded internal knowledge that we matter—that we are essential to the grand story of life.

As we continue our “Journey’s” development through 2018, God is equipping us to stand no matter what we see or feel.  We are learning that the path to our ordained purpose truly is narrow and not an easy road.  Certainly, life is filled with joys and adventurous opportunities, but every good thing we’re meant to manifest comes with sacrifice.

Because of the struggle between light and dark, I believe God would encourage us to put on our fighting gear every day.  Don’t just go through your day without the deliberate process of deciding how you will live.  The Bible calls it “putting on the full armor of God”—taking up our spiritual weapons of shields, swords, helmets, etc.  But let me tell you, on a deeper level, the Word is talking about something more than just metaphorical spiritual weaponry.  It’s you and I deciding to stand in our true identity and be who we know God has saved us to be!

Your soul must wake to who you really are…now, more than ever.  You must decide that you will take an offensive position at the battle lines.  We don’t live just to protect ourselves; we live to advance—to march into new and unknown territory; to be a creator of life rather than dormant hidden gems.

As the skies loom dark at times, know that the battles will not last forever.  They may shift and change from one moment to the next, but each battle addresses what’s necessary in the larger picture.  Every life-moment is a creative moment to fulfill what God has wired you to accomplish.  He will give you exactly what you need to create, speak, and give out of His grace and abundance.  Remember the scripture, “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13, ESV). In the word “escape” is not really the thought of retreat; but the ability to be free of encumbrances.

So, let the moments be what they are.  Let the battle be what it is.  When all is said and done, STAND!  God knows who you are.  You are part of His plan, and He trusts you with every gift He has placed in your hand for every moment.

You are not done; no matter what your circumstances might tell you!  No matter what the dark skies might communicate, God says, “You are uniquely appointed to this time!  I have chosen you to be my light in the darkness.  Let the words of your mouth and the work of your hands declare my glory!”

With great love for you all…

I’m reading the comment from Michelle and I have had that same feeling. It used to bother me that I was “off” more than I liked but it’s not about the detail but the big picture. Like retirement investment , we are in it for the duration no matter what ups and downs the market does. In that same way, if we stand , say, 90% of the time and fail 10% of the time then focus on the 90% and keep running the race!

You know the dark cold and cloudy days never get the appreciation that they so rightly deserve . I have always accepted the cold and wet rainy days that nature delivers to our city . I have experienced the blessing of a Beautiful sunny day with much more gratefulness in my heart . So will it be when we leave this life for Paradise with Him .

Not going to lie…the battle can seem more than I can handle at times but I come around after picking myself (soul) off the ground with a new strength and piece within…ready for anything until I’m not again…and than I am again…ugh Lol

    1. Thank you for sharing, Michelle. Yes, we can feel on and off at times, and the battle can seem overwhelming, but as you described, in the end, in Christ, we will win as many times as we have to. And we always become more in the process. I hope today is an amazing day for you!
